Heroin: The Sedative for coughs
Tuesday Nov/11/2008 04:09 PM
Hey there, so How's it Going?   Up to my art again.  A few new things going on.  First off - I have released some Heroin shirts.  Price Range $77 - $97   I am changing the format of how I will be producing shirts.  It will go something like this:  I will release a design for 30 days.  After that I will pull the design and move onto the next.  I have found that working with my artistic temperment, that I thrive on forward momentum and re-inventing myself.  Although I enjoy the echo's of the past, I am eager to get onto the next thing.  Also I will be printing each shirt made to order.  If you want me to print on alternative pieces, oxfords, long sleeves, thermals, v-necks... let me know and we will make it happen.  I'm addicted, not to any drug, but to creating new works.  I simply want to keep moving forward, releasing alternative designs.  I will also begin offering commissioned pieces.  I have done this at the request of customers/patrons before and love the process of creating a one of a kind shirt.  I also very much enjoy creating a new piece that has relevance to a particular person.  There is great joy in embracing someone elses ideas or thoughts and translating that into a very personal piece.

Now about the new shirts:

If you wre not aware; Heroin was first produced commercially by The Bayer Co.   Yep! the same folks that make Aspirin.  To see the new goods - all of which I am particularly proud of, go to prudcts tab. Detailed histories of Heroin are included on the product pages.

Peace
Friday Aug/29/2008 06:18 AM

Allow me to introduce the peace symbol circa 2008.

              peace

I felt a compelling desire to create a symbol that could be accepted worldwide as a new symbol for peace.  Something innate, easily reproducible and universally applicable.  My meditations brought me to this.  The palm facing outwards arms extended downwards.

  Peace Man

It is a physical position the represents no harm, an availability to carry the load, the beginning of an embrace, the position of possibilities and a physiologically powerful posture.  The most specific aspect of this is represented in the hands.

?
Why
You could say that the peace symbol has had an identity crisis – even shortly after it’s conception in 1958.  Few know it’s origins or what contributed to it’s design.  Used in protest to promote Nuclear Disarmament, then adopted by the civil rights movement, followed by the Viet-Nam anti-war movement - the peace sign we know so well has lived many lives.
Today it universally stands for peace – however the symbol has been compromised with cross association.  When I see the symbol I think of hippies, VW's, psychedelics, the 60's, and most commerce.  Bluntly it's lost it's weight.  As it has echoed through the decades it’s original reverberations have diminished.  And their first call has been all but forgotten.  From the picket sign to the billboard the peace sign has journeyed far.  And not without good reason –
Symbols are Powerful.

Symbols can unify or divide the whole of humanity.

A little more on the specifics of the new Peace symbol.

Part of the success of the first symbol was it’s ease of reproduction, hence why I have used the hand.

I used my left hand to make the print.  This is in consideration of a global symbol.  Arabic culture considers the left hand the “dirty” hand and the “right” hand clean.  One makes the symbol with their left hand and the resulting print becomes a representation of the right.

The process of reproduction involves “getting involved” with your hand in finger paints or ink - it is very much visceral.  In other words it takes action to make the symbol - action is a component essential to Peace.

Furthermore the original Peace symbol was created without any consideration of licensing - the same applies here; as I do not believe a royalty is within the spirit of Peace.

In closing: I am promoting the new Peace symbol with exceptional fortitude.  It is completely my intention for us all to have a new symbol for Peace.  Linger in the concept, express it, and promote it.  It is with unity we shall find Peace and so long as we come to one another open we can live in a better world.

Many Happy Returns of the Day,

Christopher Tod - Now Available at Sy Devore

From the Sy Devore's website:

"Known as the "tailor to the stars" until his death in 1966, Sy Devore was almost as famous in Hollywood as the men he dressed. But he made his biggest fashion impact with the martini-gulping, wisecracking, Hollywood-Palm Springs-Las Vegas-hopping Rat Pack. They came to Devore's on Vine Street near Sunset Boulevard, just around the corner from the Brown Derby restaurant, to shop as well as hang out."

Welcome to my new website.  It's been a culmination of sorts from many talented, gifted, and wonderful people.  Thank You Josh Smith for the very first holder page.  Thank you Will Sawyer for helping me to get this going.  Thank you Johnny Rito for making this possible - I am indebted to you greatly.  Thank you Beaty Wilson for bringing it home - this was a work in progress and now it's as near to completion as possible.  Only grander places to go and be.  And Most importantly Thank You the customer/reader for making this destination possible. Without your interest I only have a passion.  Now I have so much more than that and I am continually inspired each time I receive an order to push for all Aces.
